SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican RD.- The Agricultural Insurance (AGRODOSA) pay 166 million pesos to 1,069 farmers as compensation for damages to their crops caused by drought and storm Erika.

Anyelo Rodriguez, manager of Agrodan, reported that the initial payment was of 110 million 708 thousand 584 pesos, plus four further installments of 44 million 551 thousand 631 pesos.

He said that the most disadvantaged provinces to this payment were Montecristi, Barahona, La Vega, Mao Valverde, Dajabón and Santiago Rodriguez, among others.

He explained that all disbursements were made after applying rigorous evaluation criteria, which "has placed the company among the top three insurers in the country that pays faster."

Rodriguez pointed Anyelo satisfaction he feels about the way agricultural insurance has failed to protect the basic investment of many farmers who trusted the new agrarian policy of President Danilo Medina, who has supported the producers by paying them up to 50% of their policies .
