Medina started the construction stops treatment plant for RD $ 840 million









Cabarete, Puerto Plata.- President Danilo Medina broke ground he left work initiated two projects, sanitation and deposition of treated water in this city to ensure the quality of tourism more than 840 million pesos cost.

The project, initiated by the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development (MEPyD), including a pre-treatment plant at a cost of 74.3 million pesos by the consortium Solsanit, SRL they pledged to finish the work in eight months.

The owner of MEPyD, Temístocles Montas, speaking at the ceremony, said it has also contracted the construction of an underwater pipeline for the final disposal of wastewater from Puerto Plata, which was awarded to the consortium Maritime Services International SA (Samasa ) and Redondo y García, SA and it will cost 17.8 million dollars.

According to Montas, this work will stretch 3.4 kilometers, of which 333 meters will be 3.100 meters on land and at sea to ensure the cleanliness of the beaches and coasts of Puerto Plata.

The Minister recalled that 17 years ago the MEPyD requested funding for a pilot project to prevent the collapse of the tourism sector in Puerto Plata and Sosua result was successful in implementing a project of wastewater treatment.

He said that since the receiving chamber, the flow enters the plant through two rectangular weirs dividing the flow to two independent channels, where each channel is divided into two units where you have placed gratings for heavy solids retention delimited by access doors at the entrance and exit thereof to facilitate individual cleaning of each.
