"US concerned about" corruption in the Justice of the Dominican Republic



SANTO DOMINGO alleged corruption in the judicial system which operates the Dominican Republic and the allegation that several judges lead a structure dedicated to handling processes, concerned "greatly" to the United States, saying its ambassador in the country, James W. Brewster.
"We are aware of the existence of this problem, so that my country is cooperating with the Dominican Republic to find, charge and prosecute corrupt judges," he said.

He said the US government is willing to cooperate to build a fair and transparent judicial system in Dominican Republic, to protect the interests of US companies doing business here, its citizens and the Dominican people.

"We will support any initiative against corruption or against anything that crosses the line and affect the interests of the United States," he said.

Brewster spoke to conclude the signing of four memorandums of understanding on climate change and aid of 21 million US dollars offered to the Dominican Republic for the construction of various projects.
